Silence is often viewed as dangerous or even golden. But it rarely allows itself to be boxed in simply. To us silence is a rich, multi-layered communicative act, ranging from a negative view (resistance, withholding) to a more nuanced understanding where it signifies defense, connection, or deep internal processing, allowing for unconscious material to surface, facilitate transference, and foster self-reflection in the studio.
Inspired by visits to the Buddhist caves in India during a time of intense turbulence, this series honors the often eleven (not ten) headed expression of Avalokitesvara, symbolizing his infinite compassion and ability to perceive suffering across all directions.
